How did the 1000 hours outside change my life?
I want to share with you this amazing challenge. At the end of last year, I was lost and didn’t know if I wanted to continue homeschooling my children. My youngest daughter wasn’t sleeping anymore during the daytime, and I couldn’t find time for drawing or just thinking. I was starting to search for a børnehave (a Danish institution for children from 3 to 6). As I was scrolling on Instagram, this picture popped. A 1000-hour challenge. I immediately fell in love with this idea, intrigued. I started to read a little more about it and couldn’t stop. I couldn’t wait to start. The challenge was like a commitment, engaging…

Magical girl! Always and forever
Hi! How are you today? 😄 I went out with my children this morning and wanted to go to the forest with them. But we’ve stayed a long time watching and feeding ducks around the lake close to our place. 🦆 After that, my little one wanted to continue to bike, as she had just started! It’s still hard for her to stop and start, but except for these little details, she bikes! Here is a little character that I’ve painted with ink and watercolor. I did it for a challenge hosted by Poopikat, a great artist I love. I’ve painted it on a super small sketchbook that I have…

From printed doodles to traditional painting
Sometimes, I like to play with digital creations. It’s nice, different, and sometimes easier when you have kids running around you! (I say sometimes, because most of the time, I feel that traditional drawing is much easier with my children as they want to come and draw too) So I decided to draw winter doodles to illustrate this cozy mood. Forest creatures mostly, as it’s our main place to be 🙂 Even if I like the final digital result, I want to have a traditional version of it. So here is what I did for this drawing. I printed one of the doodles that I did, and after that, I…

Let’s paint with a minimalist watercolor palette
For several months, I’ve decided to work with a minimalist watercolor palette. When I first started painting, I had a wide range of different colors and was quite afraid to mix them. So, every time I wanted to try something new, I bought new colors. However, I felt the need to align my artistic practice with my way of life and how I perceive things in general. Simultaneously, I wanted to create coherence in the colors I used without restricting myself from exploring others. I initially had a Winsor & Newton box, but I recently switched to a smaller one that I found at a craft shop in Denmark called…

For Valentine’s Day, don’t send a card, color it
I’ve started to draw a doodle page almost every day, and I love forcing myself to fill the page. I used to do a huge drawing or two on a page before and start again somewhere else. Forcing myself to fill the space makes me find other techniques and other ways to do it. Having a new Sketchbook was also a nice opportunity to start this new method. I drew a Heart doodle last week and enjoyed it. So I decided to redo it in a digital version. Valentine’s Day is a very special day for me. Not in the traditional way, but because this day is my daughter’s birthday.…
